The nature reserve Ruda lies along the southern and south-eastern bank of Horusický Rybník (Horusice Pond) about 3 km south-west of the town Veselí nad Lužnicí.

Most of vegetation comprises pines and white birches and water meadows with peat. Some rare plants and the natural habitat of many birds are protected here.

The reserve is not open to the public. The yellow marked path from the town Veselí nad Lužnicí to the village Záblatí leads around the reserve.
