The Novohradské Podhůří (Nové hrady Foothills) is the hillycountry, which forms the connection between the lower locations and the Novohradské Hory (Nové Hrady Mountains) in the south-eastern corner of South Bohemia. It is divided into five parts.
The Kaplická Brázda (Kaplice Valley) lies in the western part. It is about 5 - 12 km wide and its highest peak is Věncová Hora (Annular Mount - 651 m).
In the northern part there is the Stropnická Pahorkatina (Stropnice Hillycountry), which extends to the Malše river in the west and to the town České Budějovice in the north-west. Its highest peak is Kondračská Hora hill (682 m).
The Soběnovská Vrchovina (Soběnov Uplands) adjoins the Novohradské Hory in the west. Its highest part is called the Slepičí Hory (Hen Mountains) with Kohout hill (Rooster - 870 m).
The other parts of the Novohradské Podhůří are the Hornodvořišťská Sníženina (Horní Dvořiště Valley) with the highest peak Polední Vrch (Noonday Hill - 721 m) and Klopanská Vrchovina uplands with the highest hill called Tři Smrky (Three Spruces - 824 m).
