Kohout hill (Rooster - 870 m) lies about 7 km north-east of the town Kaplice. It is the highest peak of the so-called Slepičí Hory (Hen Mountains).
The peak of the hill offers nice views of the Novohradské Hory (Nové Hrady Mountains) and the surroundings. Below the top there are a trigonometric pyramid, a part of geodetical net, and a crossing of tourist trails with a box of the so-called touristic post.
The red marked path from Kaplice (about 10 km) or the red marked path joining the green one from the small town Benešov nad Černou (7 km) lead to the top.
