The large peat-bog Buková Slať (Beechen Fen) lies about 5 km west of the small village Borová Lada and about 15 km south-west of the town Vimperk near the Czech-German border.
The peat-bog is 111 ha large and its average depth is 2.5 m. The nature reserve was established here in 1933, in the area 15.5 square km, but its status was changed into the less protected nature monument in the 1990's. The protected area was eroded by the peat mining in past.
The peat-bog is a part of the National park Šumava (Bohemian Forest) in present.
The yellow marked trail from the small village Borová Lada (about 5 km) and the blue one from the small village Horní Vltavice (about 13 km) lead along the border of Buková Slať.
