The fortress Pasovary lies about 9 km south-west of the town Český Krumlov near the small village Světlík, 780 m a.s.l.

The first mention of the fortress and the village (abandoned nowadays) dates back to the second half of the 14th century. At the beginning of the 17th century it belonged to the town Český Krumlov. At that time it was not yet an aristocratic residence, it started to dilapidate and later it became ruins. Only the two-storeged donjon in the middle of the courtyard surrounded by remains of the bulwark has been preserved up till now.
The fortress' and contiguous village's name means probably "inhabitant of the town Passau (Austria)" - the name is from the first inhabitants of this region who perhaps came from Passau.

The fortress can be found on the blue marked trail (from Světlík to Český Krumlov), by turning right about 1 km north of Světlík onto the field path, and then continuing about 0.5 km.
