The Napoleonic Dačice chateau is bigger and younger one of two chateaus in the town Dačice.
Both of them were founded at the end of the 16th century. The Renaissance Old Chateau was founded between 1572 - 1579 and it is used as a town hall at present.
The originally Renaissance New Chateau was built for the owner of this area Oldřich Krajíř in 1591. Later the chateau burnt down twice and was rebuilt into the Baroque style. The present Napoleonic appearance comes from the first half of the 19th century.
The ownership of the chateau changed many times.
The courtyard is enclosed among four chateau wings. The large English park with the small pond is around the chateau. It was reconstructed at the turn of the 19th century.
Valuable furnishings, a large library with more than 30,000 titles and big biological collections can be seen in the interiors.
