The wooded Perník mountain (1,049 m) lies about 10 km south of the town Volary above the Vltava river.

On the hillsides there are a lot of interesting rock formations and the trail of instructive trail Medvědí Stezka (Bear Path) leads along them. A lot of these formations have folk names: Bears' View, Rocky Mushroom, Giants' Dices, Smugglers' Cave, Logan-Stone, Lid, etc. Remains of water and wind erosion in the shapes of bowls or pots can be seen in the stones.
