The Vajgar pond is the very well-known feature of the town Jindřichův Hradec. It was founded in marshland on the Hamerský Potok (Hamry Brook). It became a part of the present town and it lies not far from the historical centre, likewise Jordán pond in the town Tábor. Its area is about 36 ha.
The artificial island from 1860 is in the middle of the pond. The remains of the Late-Gothic town walls with bastions can be seen on the waterfront.
