The village Vacov lies about 10 km north-west of the town Vimperk 728 m a.s.l.
The first mention of the village comes from 1352. Vacov belonged to a lot of families during the history. In the 17th century it became property of the Schwarzenbergs. The production of wooden wares, mainly toys, traditionally has been here.
The dominant feature of the village is the Pseudo-Gothic St. Nicholas' Church built between 1889 - 1890.
