Two originally Gothic town gates have been preserved up till this day. They were reconstructed in the Renaissance style in the middle of the 16th century. The eastern one is called Horní Brána (Upper Gate) and it stands in the upper square in the direction of the towns Znojmo and Jemnice. The northern one is called Dolní Brána (Lower Gate). It is situated near the lower square in the direction of the town Dačice.
The Horní Brána gate has a graffiti facade and a groove for portcullis. The present appearance originates from the 19th century, when it was lowered after fire.
The Dolní Brána gate has tiered gables and it is covered with a Baroque turret. It has a graffiti facade and the groove for portcullis like the upper one.
The third town gate, called Rakouská Brána (Austrian Gate), was demolished in the 19th century.
