The access to the town was originally enabled through three gates. Only the Pražská Brána (Prague Gate) - sometimes called the Červená Brána (Red Gate), the second oldest town gateway in Bohemia - and the remains of the south-western Prachatická Brána (Prachatice Gate) have been preserved up till the present day.
