The village Dírná is located about 10 km east of the town Soběslav. It lies below the hill Třebějická Hůrka (500 m), 460 m a.s.l.
The history of the village dates back to the 14th century. The fortress of Knights of Dírná was there. Their descendants lived there till the first half of the 17th century. The family of Vratislav of Mitrovice was the following and last owner.
The original fortress disappeared through time. The Vratislav family built the Baroque mansion in Dírná in the 18th century. It was fortified by moat chiseled in the rock and by the pond. The precinct comprised the brewery, distillery and the English park around.
The town hall with the Baroque gable, the Gothic St. Lawrence's Church from the 14th century and the Baroque granary from the 18th century can be seen around the small square. The Calvary from the 17th century can be found on the western outskirts of the village.
